WebGuard - AdBlocker & malicious popups protection App Reviews

This app works very well and serves it’s purpose.

It works well but does not block every advertising.

I bought this app about 2 weeks ago. Despite running it numerous times, it has failed to make a difference. The web developer was very responsive and gave me feedback and tips on how to make it work via email but despite all that, the app just does not work. Waste of money. Would not recommend it.

PRO - Block ALMOST all add banner & pop-up even in the extreme free adult site or underground site. CON - Major company add will still pop up, but without any picture or web detail. Conclusion - Highly recommended if you want to get rid of pop-ups or annoying adds while web surfing.

I needed a solution to block ads and popups, etc. WebGuard delivered. What I like about WebGuard is that all the filtering happens locally on your computer — and not after accessing some distant centralized server that could slow down my web browsing, and that could even serve as a security risk through DNS leakage (i.e., sharing the names of the web sites you visit with some 3rd party server). That isn’t an issue at all with WebGuard since the database of prohibited sites resides in a configuration file on your computer. To stay relevant, the database updates itself automatically. This app is a good overall solution and is worth the money.

Worked great till now. No longer stops Youtube ads.

Webguard was working just fine a few weeks ago. Please fix the issue with video ad blocking.

Does not block popup ads

I am a physics student, and I am always researching things. I continued to get pop ups that I could not remove. I tried 4 apps already to fix the issue. This one had complete instrustions, and I got it up and running smoothly (without any pop ups!) immediately! Thank you so much. I absolutely love this app. I will recommend this app.

Long hence hast my browser been overwhelmed by the knavish dogs of SPAM, Adware, and impeded browsing speed. Upon receipt of the craft of this fine Smith, the armor of my browser hath been thus made complete and I am free to browse unmolested.

Works really well and the tech support is outstanding.

I downloaded this app about a week ago and haven’t had one app pop up. I love it and so do the kids. I would recommend this to a friend!!

I have been pestered constantly by pop-ups and other trash on browser pages, and now NO MORE! Once I configured it, and that was a snap, all of the problems vanished. I have tried everything imaginable, and luckily found WebGuard. It’s worth 5 times the price, and more. I can’t say how much I appreciate this blocker. I had accidentally dropped the firewall setting, and that’s when the problems appeared. Firewall has been up, and now I have this WebGuard to complete my privacy snd peace of mind.

This is the program to download if you keep receiving blue screen messages claiming that your computer has been infected with a virus. WebGuard will highlight and show you which files are infected on you computer. Please do not call any phone numbers that may pop up on the screen claiming to to clean your system. I highly recommend purchasing AntiVirus Pro to work with the WebGuard to keep those pesky messages from appearing. I am far from being an expert, and feel that this would be a worthy purchase from the novice to the advanced Mac user. Best of luck to you!!!!

Omg, I purchased this app to see if it would block an annoying in your face ad from one of my favorite tech sites. Works perfectly! I actually removed the tech site from my bookmark out of protest a month ago. But now it is back on as a favorite.

Really wanted this product to work but it simply doesn’t work in Safari. Have gotten it to work for Chrome, but not Safari.

This is an update to my previous post. After being provided better installation instructions than noted within the software, I was able to complete the install and use with safari. The app does block all those pesty ads just like it states. I would have given it 5 stars, except for the difficulty encountered in the installation.

For the most part this app works well , although the adblocker needs some updating ( It does work on some ad’s ) and the semantics “ The automatic proxy is not configured “ issue caused me to have to contact support to afirm that the proxy was configured . Everything I have commanded the app to block and perform seems to work . I will say the app is worth the $5.00 . UPDATE: Upon further review I agree that some of the web content you might want to block in Safari just simply does not work ( I.E." Image downloads "and “ Web Videos “ ) . They are blocked in Firefox but not Safari . UPDATES !!!!!!

I read the NYTimes every day. Half of it’s missing because webguard blocks the video, even though I put it on a whitelist. So I have to let ads through in order to see the legit video that is part of the web page. I guess this is mostly a waste of money, I don’t know how well it blocks tracking scripts.
