WebGuard - AdBlocker & malicious popups protection App Reviews

As much as I disire to block adverts on my web browser and beyond, this application is not the answer. There are countless applications for iOS to block adverts however this does not prove to be true for OS X software. As dissappointing as this is, I wouldn’t use this as an excuse to purchase one of the few that do exist, including “WebGuard”. For 5$, this app sucessfully blocks all browsing. Upon launcing an ad heavy webpage, the site is rendered uselee due to blocking everything you intened to use the site for. Do youself a favor, skip this application and save your hard earned money.

So far, I am underwelmed by this product.

After a few problems with the installation, which was because of my own ineptness, not computer savvy, I was helped by Alex and had success with the installation, and it works well. Glad I found this low cost means to eliminate those annoying ads and videos. A real blessing in cleaning up the screen of unnecessary bs. Highly reccomended by this guy and high fives to Alex.

I dont like the way it prompts you to buy more apps. I got man in the middle attack prompt a couple of times with the prompt to purchase another app. I’m not buying it. Feels like a scam to me. I even purchased the sentinal pro but uninstalled them both - guess the scareware model makes me suspicious of true intent

Ive had this program for about a day now and so far it works great. For a student who does a lot of research online this app is fantastic as it does a great job blocking all the Ads and preventing you from opening a harmful page. Also it runs perfectly with my antivirus program.

I see zero reduction in ads of any type. All the systems are turned on. I’ve started and restarted my computer a half dozen times. I’ve been in contact with the company and have taken their suggestions. Nothing works with this app.

Purchased this app the other day. Easy setup and performs well on my 2009 Macbook Pro. No slowdown whatsoever and many thanks to the developer who obviously put a great deal of effort into this.

My Dad installed this on his computer and uninstalled it after thinking he had more ads afterward. Since then, no links from email have worked in the browser, they all redirected to some weird link. I just fixed his computer after spending a few hours on it. MalWareBytes found a browser extension it left behind and got that uninstalled. I also a found an Automatic Proxy public/.webguard.pac file configured. My guess is they’ve been redirecting links through their tracking software first. Apple, get this software off your App Store and refund the $5. Total scamware.

Does not work as advertised. Even after setting it up, following the included instructions, app does not block blacklisted websites. It also doesnt eliminate Malware pop ups. Also does not contan a simple "Edit" menu. So you can use keyboard commands to simple everyday Mac things like: Cut, Copy. Paste, Select All. How does any app get into the app store without and Edit menu? Especially when you need to manipulate, Cut, Copy Paste text? I understand I can right click and perform some of these functions — but this is BASIC programming. ALL APPS SHOULD HAVE A FUNCTIONING EDIT MENU! If you the ability to do basic text editing for whit/black lists — there should be a basic Edit menu. Period! Dont waste your money! Ive already asked for a refund.

A total waste of money! Will NOT open, but just crashes when you try to open it. SAFE YOUR MONEY!!!

My browser was opening constantly popups and ads everytime I was navigating a page. I installed WebGuard and no more! Once I configured the app (very easy to do that) all the problems disappeared. I tried everything imaginable and I had a lot of luck to find this one. It’s worth 5 times the price! I can’t say how much I appreciate this blocker. I had disabled by accident the firewall and that’s when my problems appeared since I downloaded something by mistake. Now webguard is one of my favourite security and ad blocking solutions out there

This is very useful for me since I usually navigate on sites with lots of ads and banners and popups and since this app blocks them, it makes my navigation much faster. What I love about it is that it works on any browser and I don’t have to deal with many of extensions. Definetely a good and useful application

I just love the way you can block ads and social widets and since I’m using Safari and Chrome and I have the configure the app only once for all browsers to work, it’s just great. Also the pages load much faster since no ads or banners have to be displayed or downloaded. I enjoy having this app on my Mac.

Pop ups and pop unders still appear. I can’t copy and paste webdomains into the blacklist window. Maybe it’s working on other ads, but I don’t believe the glowing reviews.

Wow, this app is amazing and very robust. It comes with a ton of features and operates at a system level so you block ads and tracking cookeis that might come in through other apps. Definitely worth the $5!

After installing this, when I restarted my iMac, it froze on the Apple logo (checked after an hour, and it was still stuck). Had to hold the power button to restart the computer. After uninstalling, booting went back to normal.

Blocks ads on my Chrome and Safari browsers and I really feel that the loading speed of webpages is faster. Money well spent for me this time

Just as the title says, works as you’d hope. Or atleast it does for me. I’m running the most recent version of OS X on an older 2011 27inch iMac and it IS worth the purchase. Thanks for not badgering us to make a review and for keeping this a modest and up-to-date application!
